Vanity Trove December 2012 Edition

After seeing such an exciting mailer from Vanity Trove on the December Trove unveiled, I felt that I just had to get it even with the extra $5 price tag for getting a backorder. Plus I had seen reviews from Holly Jean and luvs samples, the products serum from Dr. GL, belif and philosophy seems too good to pass up. So immediately I went to Vanity Trove website and ordered it! Delivery was fast and smooth, within two days of ordering, I got my trove!

Excitedly, I pull apart the box, and that’s where all the good things ended.

Comparing the contents of the box, apart from the Dr. GL serum, belif samples and 1000 hours hair removal strips, nothing else in the box resembles what was promised in the mailer! Instead, I have gotten:

1. Hydrogel eye mask from Leader’s Clinic (tried before and am not impressed with it),
2. Apricot and Evening Primrose face mask from Beauty Buffet (selling at Watsons for the price of $7.95 for 5 pieces),
3. Biore Cleaning Oil Cotton Facial Sheets (tried before and it gave me small bumps all over my face after using it)
4. Loreal White Perfect Laser Essence (generally allergic to Loreal skincare.. god knows why).

Familiar stuff aren't they? Well aren’t they gifts from the free Watsons trove back in August 2012?

Seriously, with more than half of my trove filled with leftovers from a free Watsons trove, I am really disappointed and disgusted with Vanity Trove. It totally felt like Vanity Trove ran out of products from the December list to put in a box and just threw in all the cheap leftovers. What with the disclaimer saying "Each edition of Vanity Trove features any 6-8 items from the key beauty stories. All mixes will be of the same value." I believe I only gotten 3 items out of the 9 featured in the key beauty story and it's hard to believe all mixes are the same value if you do compare the box I received against the other bloggers.

Overall, I think my $30 is better well spent somewhere else probably even on something luxe. Vanity Trove, you have done it and left a bitter taste in my throat. I will think thrice before ordering anything from you again.

Sleek i-Divine Palettes

After learning of this brand called Sleek  some years ago, I have been trying to get my hands on their wonderful well pigmented, vivid colored and cheap eye palettes. Thanks to Luxola , I am able to enjoy products from Sleek without having to go through all the hassle of shipping it from UK. I first started out my collection with the Au Naturel palette, after which I went on to buy the Oh So Special from some blog sale. Just within a year, my Sleek eye palette collection grew and so I would like to share some swatches and thoughts of the palettes. The Body Shop Camomile Makeup Remover

The Body Shop has just launched a new series of makeup removers, comprising of two eye makeup remover, oil, butter and muslin cloth. All the products are made with Community Fair Trade Camomile Oil. Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, Muslin Cloth, Waterproof Eye and Lip Make-up Remover Out of the five new products, I bought three to try, namely the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, Muslin Cloth and Waterproof Eye & Lip Make-up Remover. Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter comes in a metal tin which screws on/off. In the tin, it looks like a hard block of white butter. Germ phobes will definitely complain that this is the most unhygienic way of storage, and to overcome this problem, just use a spatula to scoop the butter up for use. My thoughts on the cleansing butter: I really love this cleansing butter! It smells super nice with a flowery scent, does not contain any mineral oil (ahem... I'm looking at you Faceshop &
